welcome to yet another week of curated virtual vibrations, the nexialist
hello, you! i hope this e-mail finds you well rested. this man who writes you is on a break in sunny tuscany. i’ve been taking the time to rest, refill my vitamin d, finally read pleasure activism (tn#123) and get unexpectedly hooked into merpeople. however, i decided to organize some music i’ve been listening to share with you. i know for some of you, it’s your least favorite part of this newsletter, but other people tell me i’m of the people keeping them up to date musically. now that i’m 34 i need to prove to spotify that my musical taste did not freeze at 33. and so should you (in case you’re past that age). play at least one thing that jumps out at you and let me know how it goes. enjoy 🫀

🫀iboru
do yourself a favor and press play on marcelo d2’s new album, IBORU. if you’re not familiar with his work, marcelo d2 is an established and well-known brazilian rapper and singer. in this last album, he taps takes a deep dive into samba and ancestrality making some contemporary samba. constant goosebumps for me.
it’s only ancestral that which is contemporary, that is not subject to the vicissitudes of time because it founds the very idea of temporality. — luiz antonio simas
🦒the beasts, these darlings
letrux is one of those artists from brazil that i have a crush on. her new album, letrux como mulher girafa (letrux as giraffe woman), does not cease to play with our imagination, as she experiments with words, sounds and nature. i just love the playfulness and the reframing/ode of each animal she brings in each track.
🪝feed the beast
going in a completely different universe, kim petras’ new album feed the beast is that kind of delicious pop that i like to listen to. i love how it still brings that “halloween queen” vibe with some different sounds.
🍑funk rave
well, anitta’s new sing/video has been quite controversial (just as she likes). my (unrequested) opinion is that it’s fun, i love the brazilian aesthetics and symbols and the sexy content. related brainsparks: the beat diaspora (tn#125) and male objectification through the ages (#127).
🧪químico amor
i love me some good algorithmic recommendations, and this is what happened with this. play this brazilian disco that showed up while looking for this week’s content.
📻bon entendeur
bon entendeur is known for their interviews overlayed with electronic beats, which i think is genius. in this mixtape, they bring an amazing curated 80s mixtape, worth playing next weekend afternoon in the sunset. enjoy!
🎙️vol 56
bzrp, the argentinian producer/beat maker making waves with his sessions. my all time favorite is still with villano antillano (tn#83), but this one with puerto rican rapper rauw alejandro has been great to listen to. it brings me back to 2010s pop parties, in a good way.
🎛️make my day
coi leray’s new album, coi, impressed me. i only knew her for her players hit (which i really enjoy), so i’m happy to see her playing with other great samples in this album. of course, technotronic’s pump up the jam sample is a highlight.
see you next week, beasts 👹

🔌Let’s Collab?
I truly believe innovation comes from bringing improbable areas together, and that’s why I called this project The Nexialist. Some sectors are known to be self-referencing and hermetic. Sometimes teams are on autopilot mode, focused on the daily grind, which hinders innovation. As a Nexialist, I like to burst these bubbles, bringing references from different areas, and maintaining teams inspired and connected to the Zeitgeist.
I offer inspiration sessions called Brainsparks, creative desk research (Zeitgeist Boost), Plug’n’Play deals for workshops and sprints, and other bespoke formats. If you want to know more about this, send me an e-mail with your challenge(s) and we can figure something out together. Check out my website and some work I’ve done below:
