welcome to your zany cyber-zine of the week, the nexialist
hey, you! i hope this message finds you well! today is a special day, that extra day in the lead year. it’s also a special moment as this week i’m on vacation in the mountains of argentina, with my boyfriend juan and my friend giacomo, with reduced internet and lots of nature around me. so more soul nurturing for me. so… i left this nexialist ready and scheduled for you, so i hope you enjoy it. 🫀✨

🧳citizen tourist
a nod to this vacation vibe, i was saving this video for today: a charming animation from favo studio, doing some sort of anthropological study of the weird human class of tourists.
Among this uncanny species, a skin burn is seen as a noble accomplishment, and one of their most distinguished obsessions has to do with penis shaped structures. Alongside collecting rarities from visited civilizations.

brainsparks: kids at nudist beaches (tn#88)
🔥baiana
this song has the power to give me goosebumps at any given day, but this choreography by galen hooks took it to the next level. i love how she translated some kind of ancestrality to her hip hop movements.
brainsparks: jew’s harp (tn#88)
🍑culo c
love the simple yet genius juxtaposition of twerking and fine art history. it’s also a body-positive tune (as lapili usually does), reminding us that for most of history, curvy bodies were desired and considered healthy.
brainsparks: callipygian (tn#139), why do we have butts? (tn#27), dutch censorship? (tn#160), anasyrma (tn#79), anitta’s butt tattoo (tn#75)
🚶microdose movement
talking about butts, i think a lot about the amount of time i spend sitting on mine, as most of my jobs and hobbies consist of myself sitting in front of a screen (not even counting the guilt of working from the sofa). well, in this article from vox, allie volpe argues we should start microdosing movement. it’s sad we’ve come to this, but it’s better than not doing it.
how to remind yourself to move: movement reminders on your wearable, alarms every hour or even smaller glasses of water that force you to go more times to fill them up.
how to get more movement into your day: go to the toilet further away at work, do chores that require moving in between tasks, walking meetings, fidgeting, doing sitting exercises, etc
when you are sitting, make sure you have a good posture (i’m writing this with the most messed up position)
👺girl with no face
yes! one of the most anticipated albums of the year (at least for me) was released and it exceeded my expectations. girl with no face is the zeitgeist, and i love its darker post-punk sound, especially in this moment. i was smiling watching this video, i just love her zany nihilistic drifting look, trippy outfits and weird choreo. perfection for me.

🤩this is how you listen to music
“this is how you listen to carly are jepsen” said this post on twitter with a clip from troy (hthaze) reacting to her album the loneleniest time. it is so satisfying to see someone appreciating the same details as you. this was me listening to allie x’s new album, to kali uchi’s orquideas, rosalia’s motomami and so many others.

🔌Let’s Collab?
I truly believe innovation comes from bringing improbable areas together, and that’s why I called this project The Nexialist. Some sectors are known to be self-referencing and hermetic. Sometimes, teams are on autopilot mode, focused on the daily grind, which hinders innovation. As a Nexialist, I like to burst these bubbles, bringing references from different areas, and maintaining teams inspired and connected to the Zeitgeist.
I offer inspiration sessions called Brainsparks, creative desk research (Zeitgeist Boost), Plug’n’Play deals for workshops and sprints, and other bespoke formats. If you want to know more about this, send me an e-mail with your challenge(s) and we can figure something out together. Check out my website and some work I’ve done below:
