welcome to your weekly attempt to content swimming, the nexialist
hey, you! i hope this message (in a bottle) finds you. i write to you this week from sunny and (not that) cold buenos aires. last weekend, i paid a visit to beautiful mendoza with almost all the robledos (my partner juan’s family, they are ten siblings). it’s where many of the great argentinian wines are from, so i was happy to do some wine tasting, eat some empanadas, provoletas and asado. my soul was also nurtured to see that despite the family grief, we could also find solace in each other, have fun, and turn such a sad moment into a beautiful bonding gathering. catharsis happened. thank you to all the robledos for welcoming me in such a fragile moment, making me feel part of the family and teaching me this duality.
this week, the newsletter goes from the andes, to social media and parasocial relationships, to nasty quantum stuff. i hope you enjoy 🫀✨

🦙pop andino
thank you, juan, for sharing this. we spent the last weekend in mendoza, which lets us see the beautiful andes, so i had to share this now. milena wharton, peruvian artist, has an album called pop andino. while i feel it’s quite focused on a younger audience, i love to see and hear the andean sounds, colors and references. i mean, it starts with a chant for protection from pachamama.

🇧🇷xwitter ban
well, twitter x has been banned in brazil and it’s quite surreal to see what happened. such a ban in unheard of in brazil, at least to my knowledge (i only remember when they banned that shady app where you could share secrets about people anonymously, remember that?)
this now became part of the culture wars. is it infringing free speech or are we just not used to seeing a billionaire not getting he wants, for once? these are the questions we are seeing everywhere, but i have to mention how the internet is losing a lot of memes by not having brazilians in the network.
brainsparks: connecting the amazon? (tn#124)
🫂social signals
(thank you, fabiano, for sharing this) i live in this duality of feeling social media is quite stagnated and simulteaneously moving too fast (my tiktok use is mostly done through my brothers and friends sending me links, or waiting for someone to bring them to instagram, xwitter, whatsapp or reddit —or when a project requires me to immerse there, which i actually enjoy —i will not even mention the newer platforms.)
well, matthew stasoff, social strategy director at anomaly, shared this social signals presentation on his twitter. it’s full of insights, provocations and brainsparking links about the current state of social. i learned new terms like interest graph —"an algorithm that focuses on building the feed by analyzing the various interests, preferences, and behaviors of the individual users on the platform.” i will not get deep into the material, but if you work in comms or have your own business, you must see it.

🙅parasocial boundaries
i’m loving chappell roan, not only for her art, her music, her drag and her unapologetic sapphic pop, but for creating the concept of parasocial boundaries. she has been rising to the mainstream very quickly over the past months and has been very open about her struggle to manage stardom. with that, i was fascinated to see her calling out creepy fan behavior and how normalized it is that someone famous needs to be available for their fans. i think she was quite brave positioning herself so boldly about this in an age of cancel culture. while her statement made a lot of fans complain (as people not used to boundaries will do), she got a lot of support from other people in the industry. this woman <3 (this will also reinforce my shyness when seeing famous people)

🪨pebbling
as someone who is uncosciously attracted to pebbles everytime i walk at the beach or the woods (maybe it’s part of my otter instinct), pebbling appeared in my life recently (thanks to my sister gabriela) and has become my new favorite concept. the origin of the term is not from otters, but from penguins:
Gentoo penguins in Antarctica express interest in mating by sharing pebbles or rocks to help build nests.
When done in person by people, pebbling may consist of sharing something like a flower, coin, or little toy.
Online, pebbling can entail sharing electronic stuff like a meme, social media post, or photo.
Pebbling can be small way of showing affection and serve as a bridge to deeper conversations.
brainsparks: cute aggression (tn#104), love languages (tn#57)
☯️quantum = dualistic, nondual
this post appeared in my timeline and i’m always fascinated by the poetic/philosophical elements within the quantum theory and technology. if traditional computation is binary (0s or 1s), qubits in quantum computation can exist in multiple states at once.
The 'either-or' logical binary thought process being replace d by an all-inclusive experiential non-numeric 'And'. A state that alludes to the canvas on which black and white appear as apparitions. The new-age quantum computing might just become the cornerstone of mankind's quest for understanding reality albeit from a quantum perspective. A quantum reality.

🥵quantum baby
i’ve been following tinashe’s work for so long so i’m happy to see her in the top of the charts. switched on pop even made an episode about the success of nasty and it’s simplicity and references to janet jackson and beyoncé. tinashe’s new album is delicious and sexy, quantum baby.
🏊♀️disco swimming
i love finding weird well produced dutch artists. prins s en de geit released a whole new album, partijtje, and a lot of the songs are my vibe. the video is 2 of the songs and it’s a trip.
brainsparks: goldband (tn#3), europapa (tn#173), the most creative time ever (tn#183)
see you next week, quantum babies 👶 ✨

🔌Let’s Collab?
I truly believe innovation comes from bringing improbable areas together, and that’s why I called this project The Nexialist. Some sectors are known to be self-referencing and hermetic. Sometimes, teams are on autopilot mode, focused on the daily grind, which hinders innovation. As a Nexialist, I like to burst these bubbles, bringing references from different areas, and maintaining teams inspired and connected to the Zeitgeist.
I offer inspiration sessions called Brainsparks, creative desk research (Zeitgeist Boost), Plug’n’Play deals for workshops and sprints, and other bespoke formats. If you want to know more about this, send me an e-mail with your challenge(s) and we can figure something out together. Check out my website and some work I’ve done below:
